Client Profile: An outdoor gear brand from the US
Application: Outdoor cup holder plus ground spike. Built-in magnets inside the cup holder enable attachment onto spikes or metal surfaces for hands-free use.

- Uniform color, texture and grain finish across metal spikes and ABS cup holder
Preliminary Solution
Per the customer’s original design, two-shot injection molding was adopted to fully encapsulate two magnets inside the holder. However, the solid full-fill construction resulted in a heavy 450g finished part, which compromised practical usability.
Final Confirmed Solution
We redesigned into a double-wall structure, cutting product weight down to 250g while keeping internal magnets fixed without shifting. Consistent color, texture and grain between metal spikes and ABS housing is achieved via unified surface coating treatment.
