How to Produce EVA Sheet?
What steps are required to produce EVA sheet?
Step 1: You need to prepare ethylene, vinyl acetate, and additives such as foaming agent, cross-linking agent, stabilizer, etc., as raw materials, and then use high-speed stirring equipment to evenly mix the raw materials at a temperature of 80-90℃.
Step 2: You need to heat the mixture to 120-160℃ through a twin-screw extruder to melt and plasticize the raw materials. Then use the casting process or calendering process to form the melt into a sheet. This step requires the thickness of the EVA sheet to be precisely controlled through the gap between the rollers.
Step 3: You need to cross-link it at a temperature of 160-200℃ to enhance the mechanical properties of the EVA sheet. At the same time, during this step, the foaming agent will decompose and produce gas, forming a closed-cell foam structure during the cross-linking process.
Step 4: You need to adjust the temperature of the oven to 150-180℃, so that the EVA sheet can complete the final curing in the oven and make the pore structure more stable. Finally, use a water cooling or air cooling system to quickly cool down the EVA sheet and shape it.
Step 5: You need to cut the EVA sheet into sheets or rolls as required, and apply an antistatic layer, UV stabilizer, or perform surface treatments such as matte, high gloss, embossing, etc.
If it is an indentation or dent, you can use a hot air gun to evenly heat the deformed area for 30-90 seconds, and then manually shape the material after it softens, and then shape it after cooling. You can also immerse the damaged EVA sheet in 60-80℃ warm water for 10-15 minutes, take it out and immediately flatten it with a heavy object, and shape it after cooling. If it is a tear repair, you can use EVA special adhesive to apply the cross-section, cover the adhesive surface with release paper, and press and fix it with a clamp for 6-8 hours to repair the crack. If it is a burn mark, you can cut off the carbonized area, embed the gap with an EVA foam filling block of the same density, and use hot pressing welding to achieve seamless repair.
You can use a double-shaft shredder to crush EVA waste into 3-5mm particles, and then use a near-infrared sorting system to identify and separate EVA materials with different VA contents. Then add 5-20% virgin EVA resin and re-melt and regenerate it in a twin-screw extruder. If it is a cross-linked EVA sheet, you can use supercritical CO₂ to destroy the three-dimensional network structure, reduce the gel content from 85% to below 15%, and achieve molecular chain re-plasticization.
The surface of the EVA sheet is easy to accumulate dust and dirt, so you need to clean it regularly. You can use a mild detergent mixed with water, and then gently wipe the EVA sheet with a sponge. Although the EVA sheet is very durable, you should still try to avoid contact with sharp objects and excessive force, which may cause the EVA sheet to break. Although the EVA sheet has good heat resistance, you should still try to avoid leaving it outdoors for a long time.
