PVDC Film

PVDC Film

WeProFab PVDC film can be easily thermoformed, printed and folded and is compliant with industry standards ISO 9001 and 14001. The use of 100% new high-standard PVDC resin guarantees excellent appearance and quality.

Our PVDC film undergoes multiple extrusion processes to form a high quality film that meets the stringent standards for packaging and printing. And there are many surface finishes including glossy, matte/matte, and matte/textured. In addition, the customised service that has made WeProFab famous is also available in different thicknesses and sizes, and in different colours including natural, transparent, white, black, yellow, blue, green, grey, amber, orange, brown, pink or any other colour you want.

And our PVDC films are made from the best raw materials. Compared with other companies, our films have high transparency, high surface brightness, smooth surface, uniform thickness, less water streaks, less crystal dots, and are odourless and non-toxic.

PVDC PET Film
PVDC PET Film

PVDC-coated polyester (PET) films combine the strength and clarity of PET with the superior barrier properties of PVDC. Commonly used in high-end packaging applications, including food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

PVDC Coated Film
PVDC Coated Film

A flexible film coated with a thin layer of PVDC to enhance its barrier properties. It is used in a wide range of packaging applications where moisture, oxygen and odour protection is required, such as food and medical products.

PVDC Barrier Film
PVDC Barrier Film

A high-performance film made from or coated with PVDC that offers excellent resistance to gases, moisture and odours. It is used in a variety of industries, especially food and sensitive commodities where product preservation is critical.

PVDC Rigid Film
PVDC Rigid Film

A tough, durable film made from a PVDC layer, often used to form rigid packaging structures such as trays or blister packs. It provides strong protection against external elements and is widely used in food and pharmaceutical packaging.

PVDC Food Wrap Film

Cling film made from or coated with PVDC offers excellent moisture and oxygen resistance. It is ideal for maintaining the freshness of perishable foods such as fruits, vegetables and meats.

Pharmaceutical PVDC film
Pharmaceutical PVDC Film

A high barrier film designed for pharmaceutical packaging, such as blister packs. It protects medicines from moisture, oxygen and light, ensures stability and extends shelf life.

WeProFab PVDC Film Properties

WeProFab PVDC films offer excellent resistance to moisture and gassing, UV and oxidation and stable permeability, even under humid conditions. High transparency, good elasticity, mechanical strength and chemical resistance make them ideal for durable, versatile packaging. Its printability and high shrinkage (40-60%) make it ideal for effective product preservation and presentation.

Where to Use WeProFab PVDC Film?

WeProFab PVDC films are widely used in food packaging to maintain freshness and extend shelf life, and in pharmaceutical packaging to protect medicines from moisture, oxygen and light. They are also ideal for cosmetic and speciality packaging, while their chemical resistance and dielectric properties make them suitable for electronic and insulation applications.

In addition, its high shrinkage and mechanical strength ensure safe packaging for industrial goods, making it a versatile and reliable choice across industries.

What’s PVDC film HS code?

The HS code for PVDC film is usually 3920.62.00.

What’s PVDC Film Price?

PVDC films are typically priced between $5 and $20 per kilogram, with prices varying depending on thickness, coating and application.

How About PVDC Film Specification?

PVDC film specifications may vary depending on its intended use, but some common characteristics include:

  •  Thickness: typically ranges from 20 to 150 microns, but can be customised.
  • Barrier properties: excellent resistance to oxygen, moisture and gases with low permeability.
  • Transparency: High clarity for easy viewing of the product.
  • Shrinkage: 40-60% shrinkage for optimal packaging and sealing.
  • Mechanical strength: good tensile strength, tear resistance and toughness.
  • Dielectric properties: suitable for electronic and insulating applications.
  • UV resistance: protects contents from degradation due to UV exposure.
PVDC Film Density

PVDC films typically have a density of approximately 1.73 to 1.75 g/cm³. Depending on the specific formulation and manufacturing process, this density may vary slightly, but usually remains within this range. Density affects the strength, flexibility and barrier properties of the film.

Difference Between PVC and PVDC Film

PVC film is made from polyvinyl chloride, which is cost-effective, has moderate barrier properties and is commonly used in packaging and stationery. PVDC film is made from polyvinylidene chloride, which has excellent barrier properties against oxygen, moisture and gases, making it ideal for food and pharmaceutical packaging. PVDC is more expensive, harder and mechanically stronger, while PVC is more pliable and can be used for general purposes.

PVDC Film for Pharmaceutical Packaging

PVDC film is widely used in pharmaceutical packaging for its excellent barrier properties to moisture, oxygen and light, helping to maintain the stability and effectiveness of medicines. It is commonly used in blister packs, pouches and strip packs to protect sensitive medicines from environmental factors that may affect their quality.PVDC film ensures a long shelf-life for medicines with tamper-proof and child-safe features. Their high transparency also facilitates product inspection while maintaining strong protection.

What’s PVDC Coating Process?

The PVDC coating process involves applying a thin layer of polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) resin to a substrate, usually a plastic film such as PET, PP or PVC, to enhance its barrier properties. The process typically follows the following steps:

  1. Substrate preparation: The substrate (film) is cleaned and sometimes pre-treated (e.g. corona treatment) to improve the adhesion of the PVDC coating. 2.
  2. PVDC solution or suspension: PVDC resin is dissolved in a solvent or made into a dispersion to form the coating solution.
  3. Coating application: PVDC solutions are applied to substrate films using a variety of methods, such as:

– Gravure coating: A precise, high-speed method in which the coating solution is applied through an engraved roll.

– Slit die head coating: The solution is applied uniformly to the film using a slit die head mechanism.

– Spraying: A less common method in which the PVDC solution is sprayed onto the film surface.

  1. Drying/Curing: After coating, the coated film is passed through a drying or curing system, such as a hot air oven or infrared (IR) dryer, to remove solvents and harden the PVDC layer.
  2. Post-treatment: The film may undergo other treatments, such as lamination with other materials or calendering (smoothing and compression), to further enhance its properties.
