PVDF Pipe

PVDF Pipe

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) pipe is a thermoplastic piping system made from polyvinylidene fluoride, a high-performance material known for its excellent chemical resistance, mechanical strength and thermal stability.

WeProFab PVDF pipe is widely used in applications that require durability and resistance to harsh environments. The advantages of our PVDF pipework include light weight, ease of installation, low maintenance, and resistance to dirt and scaling. Our PVDF pipes are available in a wide range of configurations and sizes and can be customized to meet your specific needs.

We can also manufacture the following connection methods at the end of the pipe: threaded, flanged, welded, butt-welded.

Red PVDF Pipe
Red PVDF Pipe

Red PVDF tubing is a type of polyvinylidene fluoride tubing that is characterised by its red colour and is commonly used for identification in special applications such as firefighting, transport of hazardous chemicals and high visibility industrial systems. The red colour enhances the safety and organisation of the piping system without compromising performance, making it ideal for demanding environments.

Corrugated PVDF Pipe
Corrugated PVDF Pipe

Corrugated PVDF tubing is a flexible, durable piping solution with a wavy appearance that flexes and fits into tight spaces. It retains the excellent chemical resistance and temperature stability of standard PVDF pipe. These pipes are ideal for applications that require flexibility, such as chemical processing, water treatment and slurry transport, while maintaining strength and performance under challenging conditions.

High Purity PVDF Pipe
High Purity PVDF Pipe

High purity PVDF tubing is a specialised tubing solution designed for ultra-clean applications. It ensures minimal contamination, low extractables and excellent chemical resistance, making it ideal for industries such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical and food processing. Its smooth interior prevents particle build-up and maintains fluid integrity, even under harsh chemical and temperature conditions.

Why Choose WeProFab PVDF Pipes: Key Benefits and Features

WeProFab PVDF pipes offer outstanding performance with properties tailored to demanding applications. They have the highest heat resistance of any piping material, ensuring reliability in high-temperature environments and providing excellent abrasion resistance for long-lasting durability. Their low permeability to gases and liquids ensures tightness and purity, while their weather resistance and light weight make them ideal for outdoor and easy-to-install applications.

With excellent mechanical strength and radiation resistance, they perform well under high pressure and in specialised environments such as the nuclear or medical industries. In addition, these pipes excel in chemical resistance, making them ideal for handling corrosive substances, and are recyclable to support sustainable practices. Choose WeProFab PVDF pipes for a high-performance, environmentally friendly solution.

How long will PVDF Pipe last outside?

PVDF pipe has excellent UV resistance and durability, so it can last 20 to 30 years or more outdoors. However, factors such as extreme temperatures, chemical exposure and maintenance can affect its service life. Proper installation and occasional maintenance can help extend its life.

Can you glue PVDF Pipe?

Yes, PVDF pipe can be bonded using solvent cement or fusion welding. Special solvent cements designed for PVDF form a strong bond, while fusion welding provides a longer lasting, seamless joint. Ordinary PVC adhesives will not work.

PVDF Pipe Sizes

PVDF pipe is typically available in diameters from 1/4‘ to 24’. Custom sizes are also available depending on the application.

PVDF Pipe Temperature Rating

PVDF pipes typically have a temperature rating of -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F). However, they can withstand short-term exposure to higher temperatures, up to 180°C (356°F), without significant performance degradation.

PVDF Pipe Dimensions
  • Nominal size: 1/4‘ to 24’ diameter.
  • Wall Thickness: Typical sizes are 40, 80, and 160 gauge.
  • Length: Typically 10 feet (3 metres), with custom lengths available.

Exact dimensions vary by size and gauge.

PVDF Pipe Cost

On average, PVDF pipe is typically priced at:

  • $5 to $15 per foot for smaller diameters (e.g., 1/4‘ to 2’).
  • 20 to $50 per foot for larger diameters (e.g., 6‘ to 12’).

Custom sizes, special coatings, or high purity grades may increase the price.

PVDF Pipe Installation

PVDF piping installation typically involves the following steps:

  1. Preparation

– Make sure the work area is clean and dry.

– Cut the pipe to the required length using a pipe cutter or saw designed for plastics.

  1. Joining Method

– Solvent Adhesive: For small to medium diameters, use a solvent adhesive designed for PVDF to bond the pipe and fittings together.

– Fusion welding: For larger diameters or stronger bonds, use fusion welding to fuse the pipe and fittings together.

  1. Support and Alignment

– Properly support pipe during installation to avoid sagging or stressing of joints.

– Use proper hangers or brackets to secure pipe along length of pipe.

  1. Testing

– After installation, perform pressure and leakage tests to ensure that all joints are secure and the system is functioning properly.

  1. UV Protection (if installed outdoors)

– If the pipe is exposed to sunlight for an extended period of time, consider applying a UV-protective coating or insulation.

Proper installation ensures that PVDF piping will perform well and provide long-term durability and reliability.
